Web 2.0 for the Rest of Us

When the dotcom era hit, wide eyed start-ups looking for gold popped up faster than paparazzi at a J-Lo / Jennifer Aniston bar fight. Investors scrambled to invest in anything that smelled like HTTP. And almost every ISV in existence invested heavily in figuring out how to re-invent themselves for the web paradigm. There were billions of dollars to be made and lost just as quickly. But beyond startups, ISV's and investors, the other 99% of the business world had to figure out what this all meant to them, how to properly invest their company resources, and how to take advantage of these technologies as part of their road maps to driving shareholder value. Notes from our CEO

I personally hope each of you reads and re-reads our feature article on Web 2.0. Since the internet became commercially viable, there has been wave after wave of pundits talking about the "next big thing". Web 2.0 is not much different, with the exception of: "It is already happening and it is a big deal!" If you are a marketer, CFO, technologist or Information worker, the evolution of the web is impacting you in ways unimaginable to those of us engaged in eCommerce in the mid-90's.  You must be planning, building and developing strategies to exploit the opportunities created by the next generation of thinking. I hope you learn a bit about the most talked about transformation this cycle.  Enjoy!

Corporate America wakes up to Web 2.0
Big companies have for years installed industrial-strength content management systems in the hope of sparking collaboration among workers. There was just one problem: People didn't use them.

What Does Web 2.0 Really Mean?
If you blog or rant about a lousy meal, rank the performance of a new gadget or post photos somewhere of your trip to Wrigley Field, you're part of the Web 2.0 revolution. If you surf the Web just to read a news story or browse some photos, though, you're stuck in Web 1.0 mode. If you don't like to participate, the Web's not for you anymore.
