Are you there, Web 2.0? It’s Me, Email...
Chris Thornton, Chief Marketing Officer

Remember the days when email was cool? In the days of Web 2.0, online communities, twittering, and widgets, a lot of people seem to have forgotten about our dear old friend, the email. Everyone wants to talk about how many times their zombie beat up your vampire on Facebook, and who in the office has the most friends on MySpace (they aren’t really your friends, you know?). Email continues to be a tried and true vehicle to deliver genuine, quantifiable, and measurable results for your business.

What has changed about email marketing? What learnings can we gleam from the era of social media to make our email more effective?

Are you there, Web 2.0?, continued

Notes from our CEO

I am glad to say that it is finally beginning to feel like springtime here in Atlanta and the offices at Definition 6 have been buzzing with activity. We are very happy to welcome two new faces to the Definition 6 team, Rhonda Vincent and Robert LaRosa. Rhonda is now a member of our Business Development group and Robert LaRosa joins us as our new Chief Administrative Officer.

This edition of Defining Insights will focus in on email marketing. Our feature article was written by our Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Thornton and explores the art of crafting a successful email marketing campaign.

Enjoy!

When The Absence of Design Makes for a Great Email

By Jeffrey Rohrs, Exact Target

Let’s be frank designers are great. They wear the coolest clothes, carry the coolest gadgets, and fill their next generation iPods with only the coolest of tunes. Granted, their spelling could use some work but I’m willing to forgive that as long as they keep me on the invitation list to their exclusive parties. Read Full Article

Six International E-Mail Marketing Challenges

By Derek Harding, The ClickZ Network

Last month I was part of a panel on international e-mail marketing at the Email Experience Council's Email Evolution Conference in San Diego. When marketers think about sending e-mail internationally, localization is obviously one of the first issues that come up. The discussion then often moves to the questions of translation and infrastructure support for "foreign" languages. In effect, localization is often equated with translation.
