Are you there, Web 2.0? Its Me, Email...

Remember the days when email was cool? In the days of Web 2.0, online communities, twittering, and widgets, a lot of people seem to have forgotten about our dear old friend, the email. Everyone wants to talk about how many times their zombie beat up your vampire on Facebook, and who in the office has the most friends on MySpace (they arent really your friends, you know?). Email continues to be a tried and true vehicle to deliver genuine, quantifiable, and measurable results for your business.
What has changed about email marketing? What learnings can we gleam from the era of social media to make our email more effective?
I am glad to say that it is finally beginning to feel like springtime here in Atlanta and the offices at Definition 6 have been buzzing with activity.
We are very happy to welcome two new faces to the Definition 6 team, Rhonda Vincent and Robert LaRosa. Rhonda is now a member of our Business Development
group and Robert LaRosa joins us as our new Chief Administrative Officer.

We filter our air and water. We filter our conversations by the water cooler. The FCC filters our TV content. Parents filter the Internet. Pop-up blockers filter out unwanted ads. Anti-spam software filters email. DVRs help TV viewers filter advertising. Clearly, we live in a cluttered, polluted world in which nearly every medium offers marketers an opportunity to put a message or offer in front of a consumer (even if it can be bypassed). Lets be frank designers are great. They wear the coolest clothes, carry the coolest gadgets, and fill their next generation iPods with only the coolest of tunes. Last month I was part of a panel on international e-mail marketing at the Email Experience Council's Email Evolution Conference in San Diego.
When marketers think about sending e-mail internationally, localization is obviously one of the first issues that come up.
The discussion then often moves to the questions of translation and infrastructure support for "foreign" languages. In effect,
localization is often equated with translation.
